Bondage is one of the most accessible – and popular – facets of BDSM. In fact, many people engage in it without even knowing. Tying your husband’s hands to the bed post with his tie? Bondage. Handcuffing your girlfriend’s wrists together behind her back? Bondage.

For people like me, bondage is all about rope – meters and meters of the stuff, in every single material you can imagine, the coils of it cascading around the place in a whole rainbow of colours. For those of us firmly in the rope bondage scene, it’s more than a kink; it’s a love affair.

However, it needn’t be quite so intense; bondage can be something that you play around with from time to time whenever you feel like it, and it needn’t necessitate you spending a lot of money on equipment. In fact, you can restrain your lover(s) very simply and with almost anything around the house – or even around your bed!

Check out that pillowcase, for instance. Let the pillow tumble out and throw it aside. There; you’ve got yourself the perfect arm binder. Have your partner place their arms behind their back, and ask them to grab opposite elbows; the width between the elbows will be about the width of your pillowcase. Simply slide the pillowcase up and their arms will be nicely secured!

You can also play great psychological games with even smaller materials. Got any wool or twine lying around? Bind a couple of your partner’s fingers together while he or she goes to work, to remind him or her that they’re yours to play with when they get home; you’d be surprised how sexy it is to have a physical reminder!

Of course, there are a lot of classic bondage materials lying around your home; duct tape is an obvious one, but if you let your mind wander you can get creative with Saran Wrap (being always careful), shoelaces and even larger items of clothing like scarves and neckties. Don’t restrict yourself to the bedroom; you can tie your partner’s wrists to their ankles anywhere in the house and have them at your mercy, and wrists tie just as well to banisters and doorhandles as they do to bedheads!

Bondage can be intense and all-consuming – but it can also be light, fun and playful. See what’s lying around your home and let your imagination run wild. Once you’ve tried it out, shop HUSTLER Hollywood for handcuffs and restraints and BDSM sex toys.

Remember that whenever you’ve practicing even light bondage, you should be able to get your partner out of any tie in an emergency. Keep some safety shears in your top drawer all the time and you shouldn’t run into any trouble – and always keep an eye on your partner’s circulation!
